In dem Artikel Potenziell gute low-budget Multiplayer-Spiele (für die LAN) habe ich bereits einige Spieleempfehlungen ausgesprochen, welche sich allerdings meistens auf „Offline-Spiele“ beschränkt haben. Die Entwicklung der Spieleindustrie im Zeichen von Online Plattformen wie Steam & Co und auch die Möglichkeiten durch stetig wachsende Breitbandverbindungen, lassen den Fokus immer weiter auf den Online-Multiplayer wechseln – also weg vom klassischen LAN, sondern hin zum täglichen Multiplayer-Event vom heimischen Rechner aus.
Diese Entwicklung bietet viele Vorteile und lässt mich trotzdem ein wenig trübsal blasen, wenn ich an alte Zeiten zurückdenke, in denen wir uns noch vor Ort getroffen haben, um uns gegenseitig virtuell auf die Mappe zu hauen. Nach einigen hitzigen Gefechten, in denen man die Reaktionen seines Gegenübers noch hautnah mitbekommen hat, haben wir beim Bier oder Schnaps zusammengesessen und über die gemeinsamen Highlights des letzten Matches gelacht.
Die heutige Generation zeigt einem einen Vogel, wenn man vorschlägt sich zu treffen, um gemeinsam vor Ort zu zocken. Die Sinnhaftigkeit geht den Online-Kiddies leider einfach nicht mehr auf. Dem Aufmerksamen Leser geht an dieser Stelle auf, dass ich die 30 leider schon längst überschritten haben muss, daher genug vom trübsal blasen – denn: Auch wenn der LAN-Multiplayer mehr und mehr auszusterben droht, haben wir uns zu Ostern getroffen und die LAN-Party wieder aufleben lassen. Zugegeben: Dank Glasfaserleitung haben wir dieses Mal größtenteils über Plattformen wie Steam gespielt. Streng genommen haben wir also eine WAN-Party über ein und die selbe Internetleitung veranstaltet, doch hat dies der Grundidee der LAN-Party keinen Abbruch getan.
Vor diesem Hintergrund möchte ich in dem Beitrag „Multiplayer-Spielempfehlungen nicht nur für die LAN“ einige Empfehlungen aussprechen, die mir für die nächste WAN-Party erfolgsversprechend zu sein scheinen.
Hallo zusammen! Nachfolgend habe ich mal eine Liste von möglichen Multiplayer-Games zusammengestellt, die wir auf der LAN potenziell zocken könnten. Diese Liste enthält auch viele Spiele, die nur über Steam oder anderen Plattformen spielbar sind – also erst noch gegen Bares angeschafft werden müssten – dafür aber eine Menge Spaß versprechen und auch noch außerhalb der LAN spielbar wären.
Außerdem können hier auch noch einige Spiele fehlen, die wir aber meisten schon im Repertoire haben (d.h. sie stehen für die LAN vor Ort zur Verfügung).
Grundsätzlich habe ich bewusst solche Spiele nicht mit aufgenommen, die der Großteil von uns sowieso nicht spielen kann – so wie Battlefield 1 etc…
Jedenfalls kann sich so jeder schon einmal einen Überblick verschaffen, welche Spiele er möglicherweise für die LAN sieht oder nicht und entsprechend abstimmen damit wir insgesamt einen Überblick erhalten:
Was auf unseren LAN-Partys immer wieder gerne gesehen ist, ist der Evergreen „Call of Duty 2“ oder kurz CoD2. Der Egoshooter ist ein solider WW2-Hit ohne viel Klamauk wie Perks und Rankings, sodass er auch für Gelegenheits-LANer eine Menge Spaß beinhaltet. Ich glaube das ist auch einer der Gründe, warum sich das Spiel so hartnäckig auf unserer Bestenliste gehalten hat. Ohne jetzt groß Werbung machen zu wollen: Das spiel gibt es mittlerweile auch schon für unter 10 EUR.
Wie bei jedem guten Spiel, gibt es auch bei CoD2 eine große Fangemeinde, von denen es sich einige Mitglieder zur Aufgabe gemacht haben, ein MOD zu basteln. An dieser Stelle möchte ich Euch das Admiral MOD in seiner Version 3.615 vorstellen.

So, im Prinzip steht der Server nun, d.h. ihr könnt nun wie gewohnt die „CoD2MP_s.exe“ in Eurem Spiele-Verzeichnis starten und die Multiplayerpartie Eures zuvor gestarteten Servers suchen.
Manchmal scheitert es an dieser Stelle bereits, da die Filter nicht richtig gesetzt sind. Ich habe euch hierzu einmal meine Filter abfotografiert. Es ist aber auch durchaus möglich, dass auch andere Filtereinstellungen zum Erfolg führen.
Filtereinstellungen
Findet ihr an der Stelle kein Spiel, so kann es sein, dass Euer Server möglicherweise nicht richtig starten konnte. Checkt hierzu die Konsole des Servers. Meistens finden sich hierin bereits Hinweise auf einen Abbruch. Manchmal machen auch bereits installierte, andere MODs dem Server einen Strich durch die Rechnung. Diese sollten dann deinstalliert oder von Hand gelöscht werden.
